Blog Viktor-Art: sochařství, dřevo a technologie

Workshop knowledge: how large wooden sculptures are made, how 3D scanning works, 5-axis CNC milling, and hand carving—written by people who actually do these jobs on wood.

Knowledge from a woodcarving workshop - not text for an algorithm

Viktor-Art is a workshop that processes wood from the ground up: a sawmill, a drying room, a carpentry shop, a 3D modeling shop, 5-axis and 6-axis CNC milling, hand carving, woodcarving, polychrome painting, and gilding. All under one roof, like a single entity.

On the blog, we show how large wooden sculptures, antique reproductions, organ casings, and sacred figures are actually created – from scans and digital models to the final gilding and polychrome.

Main topics

  • wood carving and hand carving
  • 3D / 4 / 5 / 6-axis CNC milling
  • 3D scanning and digital modeling
  • large-size figures and organ fronts
  • reconstruction of monuments and polychrome
  • wood preparation and drying

The entire workshop works as one organism

We have everything under one roof sawmill and wood drying room, a carpentry shop, a 3D modeling shop, a 5-axis CNC hall, a sculpture studio, and a painting studio. The customer isn’t buying a single service—they’re buying a process in which each stage oversees the next.

Each custom wood carving starts with an idea and a drawing, leads through 3D scanning and modeling, CNC milling and ends hand-carving, polychrome and gilding.

For large-size figures i reconstruction of monuments this integrated process is the only sensible way.
