CNC and manual wood lathes
Viktor-Art offers advanced woodworking services: 2D, 2.5D, and 3D CNC milling, 3-axis, 4-axis, 5-axis, and 6-axis machining. We work on models, molds, ornaments, bas-reliefs, organ casings, cabinets, architectural details, and large sculptural elements.
This isn’t a separate, isolated technical service. CNC works hand-in-hand with 3D scanning, modeling, carpentry, wood preparation, hand carving, and painting. This means that machining serves the final sculpture, not the other way around.
We handle both simple 2D milling and lettering, as well as complex 3D forms requiring multi-aspect machining. For complex shapes, we utilize 4D/4-axis, 5-axis, and 6-axis machining to achieve deeper undercuts, arcs, ornaments, and three-dimensional details.
We prepare the 3D model for the actual production process, not just for the on-screen effect. We analyze scale, grain direction, allowances, mounting, technological divisions, center of gravity, processing sequence, and areas that require manual refinement.
We can work with 3D scans, documentation, photos, a client model, or a model created from scratch by our designers. For complex sculptures, we clean up the mesh, correct missing fragments, prepare the reconstruction, and adapt the CAM strategy to the wood.
For artists and designers, this means one thing: you can start with a vision, a sketch, a realistic model or a digital file, and we translate it into material, a machine, a sculptor’s hand and the final object.
Our facilities include 3-axis and 4-axis milling machines, 5- and 6-axis centers, manual and CNC lathes, and a large work area of approximately 5 m x 3 m x 1 m. With clever design, this allows us to produce parts larger than a single block of material.
We process solid wood, laminated wood, MDF, plywood, and other auxiliary materials. We create positive and negative molds, models for further hand-finishing, furniture details, ornaments, fasteners, substructures, and structural elements for large sculptures.
The greatest value is the combination of machinery and carpentry and sculpting experience. The wood is prepared for a specific job, not randomly selected for the machine.
2D, 3D, 4-axis, 5-axis and 6-axis CNC machining allows us to produce large-scale, repeatable and precise components, but the final character always depends on the design, wood and hand finishing.
We use 3D milling to prepare solids, reliefs, ornaments, forms, and models for further carving. The machine creates proportions and geometry, while the sculptor restores the detail's softness, tension, and the natural rhythm of the chisel.
2D and 2.5D milling are suitable for lettering, panels, templates, structural elements, repetitive details, and material preparation. For greater mold depths, we move on to full 3D milling or multi-axis machining.
4-axis, 5-axis, and 6-axis machining allows access to shapes that cannot be properly machined from a single side. This is important for figures, spiral ornaments, three-dimensional models, deep undercuts, and elements that must appear natural from every perspective.
For large-scale figures and large projects, we plan the divisions, weight, transport, mounting, and construction. Among other things, we use fiber lasers to prepare perfectly matched mountings, suspensions, and structural elements for specific sculptures.
The entire process is scalable, from a single ornament to a large-scale artistic project. Our own sawmill, carpentry shop, modeling shop, CNC machine shop, carving shop, and paint shop allow us to control quality from the first board to the finished surface.

FAQ: CNC woodworking, 2D, 3D, 5 and 6 axis
When is 2D or 2.5D CNC enough?
We use 2D and 2.5D milling for lettering, stencils, panels, simpler construction details, shallow ornaments, and preparing elements for further hand-processing.
When do you need 3D, 4, 5 or 6 axes?
Full 3D milling and 4/5/6 axis machining are needed for figures, deep undercuts, spiral ornaments, 3D models and objects viewed from multiple sides.
What does the customer need to provide?
We can work from a 3D model, scan, photos, documentation, physical model, or concept. If the design requires further refinement, our modelers prepare the geometry for real wood, mounting, and hand-finishing.
Why doesn't CNC replace a sculptor?
CNC provides form, precision, and repeatability. The sculptor is responsible for the character: the face, hands, garments, the softness of the ornament, handprints, and the final surface quality.
